The client wished for a bright and colourful travel brochure covering the many routes and destinations they covered. Helen Leneveu, a well known contemporary artist whose style imitated woodcut style, was commissioned to illustrate a series of international destinations from a round the world notably for the ad but for the main brochure which accompanied the media bookings.

A series of cleverly worded half page adverts for the Japanese hotel chain, with tongue in cheek message for a hotel group well known for it's introverted snobbery. The ad series was designed on two levels; and also was a take on the current campaign then running by a rival hotel group that was aiming purely for snobbery on the one level.

A number of ads around a theme with a strong visual and a pun in the headline across a number of targeted expatriate magazines and the daily South China Morning Post.

Fed up with working in big advertising agencies, John Rowles set up his own. One with no copywriting departments, account handlers and the rest of the misery that goes with the inefficiency and costs associated with international ad agencies. 'Next time I'll be able to afford a full page ad'; after which he promises future readers an ad with a photo. A cleverly worded and from the heart campaign that won a lot of comment and clients too.

The main theme - precarious, period images balanced against wry prose, 'how else will you get your insurance's company's attention?'! Lombard Insurance client promised better attention and service all round.

One of a series of many ads for various sectors, here Mascara (reputedly amongst make-up artists the best mascara ever); lipsticks, eyeshadow and foundation. Ads ran in Bahasan Malay, HK, Singapore and mainland Chinese, and English language across the region, in press and MTR (Underground panels).

Somewhere along the line Pounds and Shanks Advertising, with office in Hong Kong and a sister office in Singapore, had acquired an office in Myanmar. This came with a client - Myanmar airlines. Myanmar, being home to a number of illustrious writers and travellers, most well known being Rudyard Kipling, a series of ads with beautiful images of well known destinations were devised with well known quotations as headlines from said travellers.
The image campaign ran in tandem with a series of high impact ads based on the Myanmar script, emphasising the all modern fleet.

A series of ads based on a tongue in cheek take on a well known brand of sportswear (Nike), whose ads took themselves so seriously. P&S ran as series of ads making fun of this serious business of fashionable footwear whilst making a serious point about how to tackle some of the results that come from working out so hard.

The Volvo account was often renowned for 24 hours notice and press required within 48 hours. Here was one such example. Hong Kong at that time was a fiercely vibrant and independent cit and it did indeed feel like a jungle. An advert for the Highland and Island Enterprise Board based in Inverness, appealing to businesses to relocate to the Highlands of Scotland. Advantages over various other countries or parts of the Uk - notably for call centres before their immigration to the South Asia continent - were an educated workforce, 'an appealing accent' and tax breaks.

The first major campaign won for the Visit Hebrides campaign on behalf of Western Isles Enterprise, this successful campaign brought a significantly increased amount of visitors to the islands, up on 45%previous years. Ads ran mostly in national (UK) press in conjunction with advertorials.
The campaign hinged on strong visuals and a'postcard' theme, reflecting people's positive feedback on what must be the best kept secret and the most beautiful part of the British Isles.

The campaign was devised around different sectors that centred on the Hebrides. A Generic approach was needed - but also Wildlife - birdwatching and fauna spotting the rare breeds found uniquely there; as well as Fishing, Golf, Cycling, Film, and so on. These are just some examples from a print campaign over over 20o adverts that ran in everything from National press (UK wide) in everything from Airlines to The Guardian and Independent.
Western Isles Enterprise, who having promoted beautiful Hebrides in the Visit Hebrides the year before - were acutely aware of their problems with dog mess. Visitors commented on it, Highland Council bills were high because of it's removal. A public information campaign was initiated to tackle awareness and raise behavioural issues associated with the dog owners. Press and posters running locally in the Western Isles. Cover of a brochure for a client who organised travel tours to destinations worldwide. The illustrator Helen Leneveu was commissioned to do a series of destination illustrations from the Eiffel Tower to New York and London.
A premium brochure for Lombards Insurance, the dedicated insurer for Mercedes Benz in Hong Kong. The bi-lingual brochure in English and Chinese was distributed through Mercedes outlets and Lombard insurance offices together with a dedicated leather-bound package presented on sales.
Brochure for luxury renovation development Ardtalla, set amongst the gardens of the Novar Estate. The Estate wished to attract a very particular clientele, shooting parties and weddings for the 'Set'. The design and quality feel of the brochure reflected this clientele.

Identity for Balnagown Estates, the home of Mohamed Al Fayed, who also owns three main estates in the Highlands of Scotland. This promotional brochure uses the specially commissioned tartan which blends the original Balnagown Ross Tartan with Egyptian flavour. The four page haiku on the ensuing pages blends the beauty of the Highlands with tongue in cheek appreciation of the countryside in which are nestled a number of private luxury holiday cottages and hunting lodges.

Or the Glenelg Music Festival - a small music festival promoting local and Scottish bands and traditional entertainment. Initially a small event it burgeoned as the years went by into a full blown West Coast music Festival sponsored by major whisky firms. Grayscotland provided publicity design from the outset.
The Inverness Book Festival was initiated in 2004 and Grayscotland took on the event on an annual basis, providing all publicity collateral from event brochures to posters, banners and street banners. The event went from strength to strength with such illustrious names as Ian Rankin, Adam Hart Davis and Ann Perry. This brochure from 2006.

The Eden Court Arts Centre in Inverness was being closed for major architectural renovation for a period of refurbishment. These ads ran using quotations from people supporting and encouraging donations throughout the period of closure in tandem with promotional radio and pre-film feature advert.
Grayscotland devised the original corporate identity for the First Film Festival and went on to design all publicity collateral for subsequent years up until 2009. This cover from the very First Film Festival.

Nestled on the end shores of Loch Ness, the client wished a promotional brochure to reflect the beauty of the surrounding countryside and some of the traditional luxuries that come with staying in the Highlands - for one a vast array of decent Malts. Tartan trimming a must.

Brochure for Highland Stoneware, the exclusive hand made Pottery firm based in Lochinver and Ullapool in the Highlands of Scotland, and whose extensive collections can be found worldwide, reputedly, even in Buckingham Palace. Client wished for a handy size (A5) brochure that illustrated their more popular ranges and also the prototypes for customers to order their own.
Possibly one of the best landscape photographers in Scotland, Hugh Webster required a portfolio calendar in which to display his photography.
Hunters of Brora made home made tweed and tartan items, Very upmarket and very exclusive, their work probably in quality next to Harris Tweed. Client required a formal invitation for the opening of their new Tweed Rooms.
KEV are a new breed of veterinary surgeons. Modern, ambitious and expanding, they wanted a fresh new look to their ever expanding clientele and publicity for their home and 'ambulance' services for small pets.

The client, a Gallery owner on the West coast of Scotland, wished for a fresh and clean looking promotional brochure for mailing purposes and for their many exhibitions. Their stable of artists is considerable and international and deserved premium treatment.
The client wished for a traditional feel but with a modern twist. There are two main brands, Sweet and Dry. The cider is made in home presses and marketed locally.

One of the breakthroughs in this campaign was booking an unusual format. Booking two 1/8 landscapes on consecutive pages but on recto pages and both at the top tune out to be mountain of a task! It was achieved...
The second ad position - on immediate following page in English version, reverse for Arabic versions.
Once again a revolutionary stance. The client wished to book a landscape building as a living billboard. Various sites were proposed but in the end booking the top half of the Suqtelat was achieved and became a famous city landmark.

The client wanted a high profile campaign to promote soft cheese, Baladna, which was made locally in Tripoli and whose quality was as good as if not better than rival internationally imported brands. And, at half the price, good value in a country with rising prices and inflation. Thee ensuing campaign involved taster sessions at half a dozen of the premium supermarkets across Tripoli, in road light box saturation and billboards as well as press advertising and exhibition material.

A portfolio of web design whose progress follows that of the web technology. Form narrow to wide and back again to accommodate responsive design on the vast array of tablets, laptops and smart phones on which we now view our websites and information.
The client wished after 4 events to update the website. A clean adaptive and responsive design was the culmination of many hours work.

The past few years have seen our portfolio expanding into work for clients in the oil and gas industry, a reflection of the countries lived in the past few years. The work here contains a selection of work for Oil and Gas Training Centres as well as Oil and Gas companies in Dubai, Tunisia and Libya. Much of the work has evolved into information design, QMS packages and certification.
The International Training Centre in Tunisia desperately needed a new identity, an overhaul of it's paperwork, internal QMS systems and overall a corporate identity incorporated into company profiles both electronic and printed.
